Day 4 Soccer Game Results and Highlights – Wednesday, July 1, 2009  The 4th day of the tournament was the coolest day thus far with light intermittent drizzle at times. The day featured exciting boys and girls team soccer competition including eight, 1st division teams jostling for a quarter final spot or from relegation to 2nd division. Many of the games were decisive and needless to say fiercely competitive!  It is a distinct privilege to be able to greet you on behalf of the Ethiopian Sport Federation in North America (ESFNA). It gives me great pleasure and honor to invite you to the celebration of our 26th anniversary of ESFNA in the beautiful city of Chicago. This year’s celebration is special because the city of Chicago is the first Mid-Western city to host ESFNA’s annual event. Chicago is also the home of the great leader who has brought so much excitement and hope to the world, the 44th president of the United States of America. Understanding the uniqueness of this year’s festival, the Ethiopian community in Chicago along with the Organizing Committee is working hard to make Chicago 2009 the most successful event yet. I am grateful for the wonderful cooperation we have received from the Chicago Ethiopian community throughout this process. SHUTTLE SERVICE Sun-Sat  ESFNA is proud to introduce a charter bus service to and from Lane Tech Stadium every hour on the hour between 1:15pm and 11:00pm.  We at ESFNA are excited and thrilled to host our 26th annual sports and cultural event for the first time ever in Chicago, Illinois, home of the 44th President of the United States. The Midwest region is home to many Ethiopians in cities such as Columbus, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Saint Louis and Detroit. Through the dedication and tireless work of the Chicago Blue Nile team, many Ethiopians will have the opportunity to visit the windy city.
Chicago Here We Come We are very happy to announce that the CIty of Chicago ' Obamaland ' has been selected to host our 26th Annual Tournament from June 28 to July 4, 2009 making Chicago the first Mid-West city to host our Tournament. We would like to thank our member teams in Denver, San Jose and Toronto, Canada for their bid to host our 26th Tournament and wish them better success next time. Among the many issues tackled at the meeting, we are most proud of the peaceful and Democratic transfer of responsibilities that took place. After a long and distinguished service to ESFNA, President Dawit Agonafer of Denver, six years, Vice President Eyaya Arega of Washington, DC, four years and Finance Chair Solomon Assefa of New York, four years, finished their term and gave way to new officers. |
