 The Board of Directors and Executive Committee (EC) of the Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA) held its annual winter meeting in the beautiful city of San Jose, CA on Columbus Day weekend October 10 and 11, 2009. In this meeting the city of San Jose was awarded the privilege of hosting ESFNA’s 27th Annual Tournament beginning June 27th to July 3rd, 2010. We would like to congratulate our member team San Jose Lions and the Ethiopian Community at large for submitting the best possible bid for ESFNA 2010. It should be noted that our member team Walia of San Francisco will be working very closely with San Jose to make our 27th tournament a success. We would like to thank member teams in Toronto, Portland and Atlanta for their willingness to host our Tournament and wish them better success in the future. The Tournament will take place at the historical Spartan Stadium of San Jose State University. Originally built in 1933 as a 4,000 seat facility, it has been renovated and expanded over the years to its present capacity of over 26,000. Between 1996 and 2005 it was the home stadium for San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer. In spring of 2009, the grass field surface was replaced by field turf. |
